PUBLIC MEETINGS
to Review the Morgan County Parks and Recreation Master Plan

The Morgan County Parks and Recreation board is hosting two meetings to get residents' feedback on its final master plan draft. The meetings are:
March 2, 2010, 6pm at the Moorseville Public Library Community Room; and
March 9, 2010, 6:30pm at the Morgan County Administration Building in Martinsville in the Lucille Sadler room.

The meetings will be open house style. Park board members and staff will be available to answer questions and record comments. Information about the plan will be displayed on a running slide presentation and posters. Please stop by and spend as little or as much time as you want. Your feedback is very important to us.

The master plan will be available for review at www.morgancountyparks.com and at the Mooresville and Martinsville libraries about one week prior to the March 2nd meeting.

Develop and maintain a system of high quality parks and recreation areas in Morgan County by providing constructed facilities, open spaces, natural environments, programs, and services in a thoughtful and cost effective manner.

VISION

The quality of life in Morgan County will be improved by a system of parks and recreation areas easily accessed by all county residents that will enhance their physical, social, and emotional well being, while preserving unique environmental and historic areas of the County.


PURPOSE

    county parks and recreation
• Organize the Morgan County Parks System
• Acquire and develop county parks to meet local park and recreation needs
• Improve outdoor education opportunities
• Preserve unique environmental and historic areas in Morgan County
• Utilize development of parks and recreation opportunities as a catalyst for enhancing
    economic development and the overall quality of life in Morgan County


WHY A STRONG PARK SYSTEM IS IMPORTANT TO MORGAN CO.


A strong recreational park system enhances Morgan County quality of life standard. If quality of life is high, the population is healthier, more culturally enriched and more vested in the overall strengthening of its communities. Strong, vibrant communities encourage population retention and ultimately become an important catalyst for greater economic development.







BOARD MEMBERS

The MCPRB consists of seven appointed members. These board members serve staggered four-year terms on a totally volunteer basis. The board members for the year 2010 are:
